Sclerotherapy is a well-established and safe procedure for reducing the appearance of unwanted small thread veins, usually on the legs. Using very fine needles, a sclerotherapy solution is injected directly into the vein and this causes the vein to collapse. The blood flow is automatically diverted and the unwanted vein is then gradually reabsorbed into the surrounding tissue where it fades over the coming  weeks.
